Cascadia Grey to Green Symposium July 26 & 27
CURRENT EVENTS
Register now for the 2024 Green Roof Symposium - Cascadia Grey to Green Conference - July 26th at PSU.
Conference on Friday July 26th — Tours Saturday July 27th — GRIMP Training on Thursday July 25th (to be confirmed)
In the Cascadia Bioregion, green roofs play a crucial role in sustainable urban development. They manage stormwater, reducing runoff and mitigating flooding risks. By combating the urban heat island effect, they provide natural cooling, improving urban comfort and reducing energy consumption. Green roofs support biodiversity, create habitats for wildlife, and enhance air quality by capturing pollutants. They also improve building energy efficiency, offering insulation and reducing heating and cooling needs.
The Cascadia Grey to Green Conference will have a strong focus on providing content tailored for designers, installers, civil engineers, maintenance professionals, and policy makers. This content includes practical information about the implementation and maintenance of green infrastructure systems. There will also be introductory programming to attract new and aspiring industry professionals. Full Agenda Here
The event spans over three days, with maintenance and installation training, a plenary session, green roof tours, technical presentations, panel discussions and a central trade show. The main event will be held at Portland State University on July 26th. There will be continuing education and sponsorship opportunities. Check back here for updates on confirmed speakers and tour locations and more details, coming soon. Register at GreenRoofs.org

GReen roof Tour - tri-city Water resource recovery
This is event is complete, but please contact us if you would like to add your name for next tour. Thank you to speaker Jean Von Bargen Root and to photographer Edward Nieto, as well as Gail Shaloum and all our wonderful supporters at the Tri-City Facility!
This event is for Clackamas County and Willamette watershed municipal leaders, architects, and developers to see an example of a large local green roof making a big impact in protecting our sensitive watersheds. We will tour one of the beautiful Tri-City Water Resource Recovery Facility Green Roofs. We will have one of the project architects, Jean Von Bargen Root, in attendance and other local experts, sharing how vegetated roofs resolve so many of our environmental concerns, especially managing storm water runoff into the Willamette and Clackamas rivers, while creating beautiful social spaces for building occupants. Due to limited space, this event is currently invite-only and an RSVP is required.
Big News: Portland, Oregon named the #1 most sustainable city in the United States!
Energy and resource efficiency, LEED certified buildings per capita, and green space per capita are just some of the things that have put Portland on the map as the most sustainable city in the U.S. according to an analysis by Rocket Homes and Bestplaces.net. These criteria also happen to be some of the biggest reasons why we at GRiT do what we do. Check out how you can be a part of making our cities more sustainable through green roofing.
